Boranija se u postrnoj setvi seje u julu. Setva se obavlja na rastojanju 50 cm između redova i 5-6 cm u redu. Količina semena se kreće oko 100 kg po hektaru.
Prvo kultiviranje ili okopavanje uz djubrenje (KAN), obavlja se 15-20 dana po nicanju ili kada biljke dostignu visinu od 8-10 cm. Čim počne cvetanje međuredna obrada zemljišta se obustavlja.
Za postrnu servu treba odabrati niske sorte jer onr ranije – brže prorode. Boranija raste brzo i prve mahune stignu za branje za 45-50 dana posle nicanja. Mahune treba da su krte, sočne i mesnate. Transport obrane boranije i njeno zamrzavanje treba obaviti što pre. U protivnom kvalitet mahuna se znatno smanjuje.
