OVCE BEZ VUNE: Nova mesnata rasa poreklom iz Južne Afrike

Ne znamo da li ovu rasu neko gaji u Srbiji, ali u Evropi postaje sve zanimljivija za uzgoj. Dorper rasa potiče iz Južne Afrike, zemlje sa dugom tradiciom uzgoja prvoklasnih rasa ovaca i koza ( il de frans i burska koza).

Selekciju su od južnoafričkih farmera najpre preuzeli Amerikanci, koji su zaslužni za dobre proizvodne rezultate ove rase. Postoje dva varijeteta – sa belom i crnom glavom.

Glavna odlika ove rase je kratka vuna (dlaka) koja ne zahteva strižu. Ova osobina ne bi predstavljala problem sa hladnoćom u našim klimatskim uslovima – jer dorper ovca ima veoma debelu kožu. Svojevremeno su braća Milovanović, poznati stočari i veterinari iz okoline Šapca, pokušavali da uvezu zamrznute embrione ovih ovaca iz Amerike, ali ne znamo zbog čega nisu uspeli u tome. Pokušaćemo da saznamo.
